Watertown Real Estate Guide by Neighborhood

Watertown, Massachusetts is a city of around 31,000 people that is part of the Greater Boston area. The location nearby the larger city and local universities, along with the values of a smaller suburban community make Watertown real estate a popular choice for families with children. The area boasts high-quality public schools and safe neighborhoods. The population is fairly dense, covering just over four square miles. Combined with the plethora of open spaces, the neighborhoods are pedestrian-friendly. Bemis is the neighborhood located on the furthest west side of Watertown. Many of the homes for sale in this area are older townhouses build in the early part of the twentieth century. A number of the have been remodeled and have three or four bedrooms, with some as many as nine. The two-story homes are spacious and their attractiveness is rivaled only by the quaint, tree-lined streets. There are also a number of apartment complexes in this area, many in close proximity to the rail station.

Brigham Historic District

The smallest area, Brigham neighborhood, is found in the central part of the city. Boston Magazine named the neighborhood the “Best in Watertown” and it offers much in Watertown real estate. Homes in this area are all single family residences, primarily of the mid-century style, such as Dutch Colonial and Split-level. The main road through this section sits against Oakley Country Club, giving those whose backyards face the club an excellent view.

Coolidge Square

Coolidge Square is a beautiful area filled with trees and a significant number of duplex homes. Enjoy the convenience of a small rental with the appeal of a house. The majority of duplexes have amenities such as laundry access in the unit, a patio or porch, and a beautiful, green backyard. Those in the market for Watertown, MA apartments will definitely want to consider the rental home options in this neighborhood.

Watertown Square

Watertown Square is lined by the Charles River along its north side. The area has several city parks, playgrounds, and the Arsenal Mall. The area has a diverse selection of the Watertown homes for sale and apartments for rent. The real estate hub of the neighborhood is the Watertown Square Apartments, which offers studio, one, and two-bedroom units. The complex is located just off the Mass Pike, with access to the bus station.
