Watertown Attractions

History

Watertown was initially established by settlers in the 1630s and known as Saltonstall Plantation. The Repertory Theater is located at the Arsenal Center for the Arts and produces a mix of classical and contemporary programs.

The local mall, known as theArsenal Project, is the largest retail outlet in town. Located in Watertown Square neighborhood, it is easily accessible from nearby Watertown apartments. The mall has over 50 retail and dining options, including a variety of national brands. For groceries, the most popular spot in town is A. Russo and Sons. This unique business sources local produce, as well as specialty items from around the world. Many international cuisines can be found at the array of restaurants and bakeries in Watertown.

Outdoor Recreation

The best way to get outdoors in Watertown is on the Charles River. In the summertime, local residents will be found floating down the river in boats or fishing. When the season turns cooler, the riverbank becomes the best place to watch the local wildlife, hike, and enjoy the fall foliage. The river runs through the center of the city, making it easily accessible from all areas.
