Wakefield MA Real Estate: A Neighborhood Guide

Comprised of eight major neighborhoods with I-93 close by, the Wakefield area features several picturesque attractions and amenities suitable for those seeking to buy Wakefield properties and settle in the Middlesex area. You’ll find a plethora of natural beauty as well as Wakefield homes that you can love for generations to come. There are several types of houses throughout the city from Georgian to Victorian with historical roots that supply all kinds of anecdotes for those who visit your new home. Learn about what each neighborhood has to offer so that you can make your decision to look for Wakefield homes for sale a lot easier.

Greenwood

The largest neighborhood in this area spanning a little over 5 miles features Bennett’s Pond Brook and State Highway 28 serves as Main Street, making it easily accessible to other large highways and routes to major cities as well as Newburyport Turnpike which runs through most of the city. Along with many Wakefield MA homes for sale in several price ranges, the middle of town features a beautiful building where you’ll find Wakefield apartments close to all other neighborhoods, towns and transportation.

Montrose

The second largest neighborhood spanning approximately four and a half miles features several transportation options with the Boston and Maine Railroads, State Highway 129, and Newburyport Turnpike so that residents have many ports of travel to and from town. There is an abundance of Wakefield apartments on Audubon Road as well as modest homes that Wakefield realtors can show you. Potential residents will find the historic Mill River as well as a few other small creaks and brooks that promote a picturesque experience.

West Side

Almost as large as Montrose, this neighborhood also spans approximately four and a half square miles and offers many of the same aspects. According to the 2010 census data, this neighborhood has a larger population and would appear a bit denser than Montrose while still offering a similar natural beauty as well as access to main highways and railroads. Like the other large neighborhoods, there is a variety of different types of houses and apartments for sale and for rent, giving a potential resident many choices.

Smaller Neighborhoods

If you’re looking for a smaller and less densely populated neighborhood, there are the Woodville, Lakeside, and East Side neighborhoods to choose from. These areas offer the more prominent houses and you’ll find many of the historically significant properties in these areas. If the Wakefield homes for sale that you’ve seen don’t seem to strike your unique sense of style, you may find something you like more easily in the smaller neighborhoods.

Historical Significance

The Downtown and Wakefield Park areas span less than half a mile each and Wakefield Park is home to the Wakefield Park Historical District between Summit Ave and Chestnut Street. The area is home to several town events and historical points of interest as well as a few properties that would make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time.

The Wakefield Allure

You’ll find that Wakefield homes and apartments can satisfy your desires for living in a New England town that has a rich history and regal architecture within the building styles. Pleasure Island is Wakefield’s own amusement park, often referred to as “the Disneyland of the Northeast” so in addition to good schools and proximity to major railroads and highways, there is a lot to do and see for the whole family!
