Needham Massachusetts Real Estate

Needham is an area built by people who are able to thrive in hardships. Despite the fact that Needham property began as farmland in the 1640’s, the land is very hostile to vegetable growth. Even the maize that saved so many other areas seemed to fail in this location. After many harsh winters, the residents turned to hunting and fishing.  With this adaptability, Needham was finally able to flourish. Since then, it has changed its primary industry countless times, but always kept the Needham residents thriving.

The hunting history has left Needham with some beautiful wooded areas complete with walking trails. Cutler Park is almost entirely in Needham, and it provides miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as a scenic path beside the Charles River. The water sites in the park include a large lake close to the parking area as well as various marshes throughout the park. Nature lovers will never run out of nooks to explore.

The community comes together each year to celebrate various events. The Harvest Fair that occurs each October is a joint effort by the area businesses to create a spectacle of rides, games, and booths that is perfect for the whole family. One of its most anticipated features is the Souper Bowl, where visitors can sample the area’s best soups and vote on the tastiest treat available.

Needham prides itself on delicious coffee shops and great food, and it’s no wonder with the large population of families in the community. In fact, the area is primarily residential and serves as a commuter hub for Boston. The surplus of families in Needham homes explains the emphasis on education. A few years ago, the Needham high school underwent a $62-million renovation, helping it become one of the best schools in the area.

The area emphasizes community involvement and does everything it can to cultivate it in all its citizens. Every year since 2008, Needham has been awarded the e-Government Award with Distinction from Common Cause. This organization evaluates the ability of local governments to involve their citizenry in the political process, and Needham has proved up to the task each time. Now, becoming an informed citizen is as easily as going online and using the towns’ website.

As a community building area, Needham homes offer a unique opportunity to live in a large, yet intimate environment in which you can actively shape and take advantage of the community around you. It is the perfect location to raise civic-minded children or to have a beautiful home to come back to after a hard day’s work in the city.
