Franklin Massachusetts Real Estate
Franklin homes offer far more than a quiet retreat from the busy life of Boston. In fact, they are the source of a rich and varied history, including much involvement from the town’s namesake, Benjamin Franklin. When he donated a large number of books to the town from his private collection, the town of Franklin had the then revolutionary idea to make the books available to all who wanted them. Thus, the first public library was born.
The emphasis Franklin had on making knowledge available to all who sought it is today reflected in the incredible public school system the town offers. Though there are fewer than 8,000 students enrolled in the town’s public schools, the area has been rated a “high performance” school district, and boasts of its high standardized test scores.
Combine this strong educational background with the emphasis Franklin places on community, and it’s no wonder why Family Circle called Franklin one of the “Ten Best Towns for Families.” There are a variety of parks, community centers, and even an historical museum. On top of that, there are community organizations that are tailored to every possible hobby or interest of the town’s residents.
Franklin has built a strong community feeling, giving each resident the opportunity to get to know his or her neighbor. Each year, the town comes together for the annual Lighting of the town common, and may even indulge in a brisk holiday stroll. In the summer, the Fourth of July Parade is an incredible spectacle, and is known as the largest in the area. The fall provides a harvest festival, as well as the continuing opportunity to shop at the local farmer’s market. For those who enjoy a serene outing, board a kayak or canoe at the Beaver Pond Boat Launch and revel in the nature surrounding you.
The Franklin homes for sale have a character all their own, with a variety of architectural styles in different neighborhoods. Whether your taste runs toward Greek revival, Italian inspired, Gothic, or something else entirely, there is likely a Franklin house that has your architectural needs in mind.
Franklin has weathered the recession relatively well, and with a strong local economy, is seeing a booming rebound of the real estate market. Home prices are rising relative to their position last year, but in many areas, are seeing the seasonal decline in price due to the cold weather.
