Concord Massachusetts Real Estate

Old North Bridge in Concord, MA.

The first thing that strikes many homebuyers when they first start looking at Concord properties is the town’s rich history. First incorporated in 1635, Concord went on to become a pivotal point in the start of the Revolutionary War and the site of the “shot heard ‘round the world”. During the 19th century, the town was home to prominent literary figures including Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Louisa May Alcott. Today, it is one of the most affluent and highly-educated towns in the country.

Concord has had a stable population of about 16,000 people for the past several decades, but don’t let its small size fool you. Residents enjoy a quiet community and a very low crime rate, but they also like staying active outdoors, taking in cultural events in town and in Boston, and getting to know their neighbors at community events.

Concord is a predominantly white-collar town, with close to 23% of adult residents working in management positions, 12% working in business and financial occupations, and 10% working in education. Two thirds of adults have at least a college degree, making the town a great place for kids to get an education. There are three public elementary schools, two middle schools, and one regional high school with the town of Carlisle.

Concord homes are located in three distinct neighborhoods: West Concord, Nine Acre Corner, and Town Center. West Concord and Nine Acre Corner contain mostly medium and large single-family houses. The majority of residents in these neighborhoods own their Concord house, although there are also some Concord apartments for rent.

There are beautiful houses all over Concord, but the Town Center neighborhood is regarded as having some of the best-maintained houses in Massachusetts, and these houses tend to maintain their value over time. Concord homes for sale in this area tend to have higher listing prices than houses in nearby Massachusetts towns.

Anyone moving to the area who is not interested in homeownership can find well-maintained Concord, MA apartments within easy walking distance of amenities such as schools, parks, shops, and public transportation.
