A Guide to Blackstone, MA Real Estate

As a small town, Blackstone, Massachusetts offers homebuyers the opportunity to purchase beautiful, spacious houses on large lots at a fraction of the cost of homes in more densely populated areas. Blackstone homes are available in the town’s two constituent neighborhoods: Town Center and East Blackstone. Read more about the character of each neighborhood below.

Town Center

Blackstone’s Town Center is located to the west of Blackstone Street, and the scenic Blackstone River flows through the southwest corner of this neighborhood. Residents here are a mix of renters and homeowners, and if you plan to move to this area, you will see median real estate prices around $273,000 and average rent of about $800.

Most of the Town Center properties are small or medium single-family homes, many of which were built before World War II. If you’re looking for Blackstone apartments, don’t expect to see a lot of large complexes—most of the apartments here are located inside large Blackstone homes that have been divided into rental units. Many of these apartments are located near the Blackstone River, giving residents spectacular views and easy access to the small cluster of shops and restaurants on Main Street.

If you’re looking for a Blackstone house, you’ll find that a significant number of the available Town Center properties are located between Lincoln Street and the Blackstone River. Many of these houses are built on large, wooded lots and offer plenty of privacy and quiet.

East Blackstone

Just across Blackstone Street, the East Blackstone neighborhood begins. This neighborhood was developed more recently than the Town Center, and the housing stock here reflects that. Most of the Blackstone homes for sale here are newer and have been custom designed Colonials or Capes. Currently, much of the development in this part of town is taking place in the upscale Sycamore Parks Estate subdivision, located along Elm Street.

You won’t find very many Blackstone apartments in this neighborhood, but as in the Town Center, those that are available are typically units in large houses that have been divided into two, three, or four units.

Common Types of Blackstone Properties

When you start looking for a Blackstone home, many of the properties you’ll see are classic New England Colonial houses. Due to the town’s small population and rural setting, homebuilders have been able to spread out, and most residents have large lots, mature trees for privacy, and plenty of space between neighbors.

Many of the newer houses are also built in the Colonial style on large lots, but builders have used green building practices and have strived to make each home as energy-efficient as possible. These homes also come with plenty of desirable modern amenities, including stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and upgraded siding.

Whether you’re looking for a modern, environmentally-friendly Blackstone house, a classic early 20th century home along the Blackstone River, or a stress-free apartment, contact a CENTURY 21 Commonwealth realtor to start your search for Blackstone real estate today.
